미국, 23일부터 160억달러 중국 제품에 25% 관세 부과<br /><br /> Turning our attention to the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China.<br />Washington plans to impose 25 percent duties on another 16 billion dollar's worth of Beijing's imports.<br />Ko Roon-hee has the latest on the two superpower's tariff tit for tat. <br /> The United States has stepped up its trade war with China… by announcing a new round of tariffs. <br />According to the U.S. Trade Representative's office on Tuesday…16-billion worth of Chinese imports will be subject to 25 percent tariffs starting August 23rd. <br /><br /> The office said the move is part of the U.S. response to China's unfair trade practices related to the forced transfer of American technology and intellectual property. <br /> The fresh tariffs will apply to 279 items. <br />The new list covers products such as semiconductors, electronics, plastics, and railway equipment. <br /><br /> Some U.S. industries have expressed disappointment at Tuesday's decision. <br />The Semiconductor Industry Association said in a statement that tariffs imposed on semiconductors imported from China will hurt American chipmakers because China is one of the biggest buyers of U.S. chips. <br /><br /> The escalating trade conflict between the world's two largest economies…has seen the two sides impose tariffs on 34-billion dollars worth of each other's goods.<br />They appear far from a resolution... and according to U.S. local news outlets, the USTR is reviewing the 10 percent tariffs on a further 200-billion U.S. dollars of Chinese imports…and is considering raising the rate to 25 percent. <br />Ko Roon-hee, Arirang News. <br />
